## The email

**Subject:** A short interview for \[newsletter\]?

Hi \[name\],

I write \[newsletter\], a weekly email for \[audience\]. I would love to feature you in an issue about \[topic\], because \[one specific reason, such as something they wrote or built\].

It would be five questions by email, and you can answer as briefly as you like. I would send the draft for you to check before it goes out, and link to \[their work\].

Would that be possible in the next few weeks?

## Notes

- Always give one specific reason you are asking them.
- Offer email questions first; calls are a bigger ask.
- Promise a draft review, and keep that promise.
- If they decline, thank them and do not follow up again.
